THE MIZIZI STORY
MIZIZI started as an idea in the dining halls of the University of South Florida in spring of 2014. Being alone in a brand new state, Paakow Essandoh begun to work on a project that could help him bridge communities and make new friends. Seeing the lack of representation in Florida led to him thinking about how Africans might be affected by the same thing globally and what would be the solution. Fast forward to the summer of 2015; Essandoh officially launched MIZIZI on August 30th and has kept the diaspora rooted ever since.
MIZIZI began as a reminder that taking pride in your roots is an integral part of self actualization but has transformed into a global movement that leverages the power of representation to educate, revere and connect the multifaceted members of the Diaspora. Five years after it’s inception, MIZIZI is now a movement that transcends clothing; it’s a worldwide celebration of individual identity and the roots that connect us all. Forever and always the goal is to #StayRooted
